IBM T22 locks up

Thread Starter
Hello all,

I have a T22 that recently started locking up for no reason. I have stripped it down and even removed the DVDROM. I pulled out the CPU and applied a fresh coat of Artic Silver thermal grease. When I run in Win2K, the temps never really get above 138 degrees, which is normal for a CPU under load. What I have noticed is that the CPU exhaust fan only runs for a few seconds on unit power-on, then stops. I cannot seem to find any documentation as to whether it should be running all the time, or only after the CPU reaches a certain temp. There seems to be no setting in the BIOS.

Anybody have any ideas?

Well I own a T23 and if I force the CPU the fan will run for long minutes, but after than it shots down foe at least the same time.
About the overheat I can tell you only to look for some fan management software. I'v seen a few. I had one on my old Toshiba 4030, it had only 2 options: on/off. 138 degree what?? Fahrenheit I presume... thats 58C and yes my CPU runs at the same temp too.

Have you recently installed any noew software or drivers? I know driver updates are prett rare for 2K these days.
