Spaxs 5680 Stress Cracks - Page 7

A week? I thought their policy was 72 hours or something like that. I just sent mine in FEDEX this morning. And do you have to pay for return shipping?

ACtaully the laptop was shipped out tuesday but they didnt email me the trackin info until i emailed them thurs asking how it was goin

you know , you can ask them to upgrade ups 2nd day at their cost.

because the fault is not ours, its bad workmanship from them.

when i first had my 5690 theres scratch on lcd, i asked them to replace new one and upgraded shipment to 2nd day from their end . They had no problem at my request.

now since i got the crack problem ...im wondering if its possible to replace the lcd back panel on my own...

I asked them to upgrade to 2nd day air, and they requested credit card info, so i gave it.

I'm sooo relieved I didn't buy a Sager now... last year I had serious concerns and went for a Sony VAIO GRX instead (metal lid... opened four of five times a day, transported everywhere and still going strong 15 months later, tight and solid as the day I got it). Shame that our buddy Mr PCTorque edited my last post (previous ID was lazyfox, now locked of course) comparing the VAIO favourably to the wobbly-screened Sager 8890, in which I referred to the cheap brittle white plastic the Clevo-built machines are made of, and the apparently rampant overheating and reliability issues. Sony's customer service may suck, but then it's customers don't seem to need it quite as much as Sager's - sounds like they should have revolving doors installed for the RMAs.

PCTorque will of course edit this one too to save his sales, but hopefully a few people will see it before he gets to it and realise you can't believe all you read on this forum. How many other Sager-negative posts are edited by him, I wonder?

Good luck with your machines, guys. I'm sorry you weren't warned.

Blah, sagers are cheap, its well worth the money. I was already warned before making my perchase, so i know what i'm doing. Sony are so expensive, just for the look, might as well buy an Alienware.

I was warned, and I knew already about this. It may have a cracks, and the plastic might be less quality than Sony, but my 5690 still whoops your notebooks ass in benchmarks

Ah... benchmarks, benchmarks, benchmarks... games run really well when the machine's at the repairer. These ATI 9xxx super turbo 128Mb graphics cards are also great - until they lock up after 20 minutes because of overheating. I bought a machine for work and real life, not for games or scoring geek points in 3DMark. Benchmarks schmenchmarks. With 1GB RAM, a 2.2Ghz P4-M upgrade and a Hitachi 7200 rpm drive my Sony's just as snappy in Photoshop and Quarkxpress as a 2.8Ghz P4 desktop with 800Mhz FSB. And it's these two progs which earn my money. But oh no... I can't play Far Cry at 50fps... the shame, the shame...

Why would PC Torque or the moderators get rid of your posts. They are so entertaining. We, the educated, simply have pity for you. Please keep us entertained.

He edited my final post last year by stripping out negative remarks about Sager, then locked my user account. Choose not to believe me if you will. Issue closed.

ISSUE REOPENED! FROM UPS@!
Ive owned a 5650.5680,and a 8790 ... I had NO PROBELMS with overheating... as so far only the 56xx seem to have the lcd housing crack issues. This is the first time in 2+ yrs i had to send a sager back for repair. You can have you sony..ill still take a sager over it anyday of the week... ALso everyone has there own reasons for purchasing a laptop.. for u a 2yr HP would be fine for what u do.
