Spaxs 5680 Stress Cracks - Page 2

how about putting some glue or tape on them to stop the crack from spreading?... or will it make it look more ugly than a crack
post #22 of 170
yeah it happened to my sager 5680 as well, same spot too..but mine is worse, the crack even came off that I could barely see the lcd inside...so i had to rma back and replace new led..and now backlight doesnt shut off whenever closes the led hah oh well..i had to pay 30 bucks shipping to fix that crack on the led ...this is something sager should put into consideration now since its a highend notebook

no idea

Because CLEVO manufactures the notebooks - not Sager.

Sager will replace those parts for you for free...just shipping...

Forget about it till the last few weeks of the warranty and then send it in for replacement.

Also - be more gentle with the LCD opening/closing

I have a 5680 and yes, I have also found stress cracks on the bottom portion of my screen. I really wish Sager would comment about this!!!!!
well they clearly know about it.
ours are not the first notebooks they've ever made....
maybe adam or someone will comment on it
then i suggest they should start looking into the issue ...the laptop does certainly cost a fortune!!

yea a good deal of pocket change
hmmmmmmmm and I open and close mine like 4-12 times a day when in school...
There's no possible way the cracked plastic will change how solid the LCD is attached. I'm just saying that so anyone thinking the LCD will fall off... no, the cracks are just in the plastic trim that snaps over the LCD. What you should do if you get these is contact Sager to see if they can swap a new LCD casing with your cracked one. It's not hard to swap them and they may have no problems with you doing it. Don't know until you ask them though.

I've yet to see a demo model crack at all. They're opened and closed all and every day by various people.

thats what i thought, it dint seem that 2 little cracks on both sides could threaten the LCD in any way.

Thankx adam for clearing that up.
just gotta ask myself is it worth paying the shipping to get a new casing.
i think I'll wait until it gets worse
