Completely lost in selecting a router

Thread Starter
I've been looking for a router to buy for the past 3 or 4 days and I still have no idea what to get. I thought I finally found something in the Linksys WRT54GS but I've heard that the newest versions of them aren't so good. I'm looking for something for home use and plan on doing a lot of file sharing, specifically bittorrent. Also, I'm not looking for anything more than maybe $85-90. Could anyone give some suggestions?

Don't get the WRT54GS version, just the WRT54G. The GS boost only works if you have a corresponding linksys part in the computer. I have the GS after a mistake type of buy, and it was just a waste of cash. However, it is running stable as a router and lets me game on my laptop without any problem at all.

Buy one which you can load custom firmwares with such as the WRT54GL these routers rock and fit your budget . You can have nearly 9999 active connections and still keep the router running fine with your regular apps.

I've had the GS for going on two years now and it's rock solid. The only time I think I have a problem with it is when the cable modem craps out.

BTW, some times with silly sales the GS can be cheaper than the vanilla one and I had a vanilla one prior to the GS and it barely lasted a year..
