Satellite P25-S520 won't see 2GB SD Card

I have a Satellite P25-S520, one of the big blue monsters.

The computer works great except for the fact that it won't see my new 2GB SD card. I know the card is good. I've tried the card in other devices/computers without any problems.

My SD slot will recognize my 1GB cards fine. What really concerns me is the fact that even if I try this card with my external card reader it has a problem. The card reader is a few years old and is a very cheap one, so that could have something to do with it.

What I would really like to know is whether or not there is a way to update the built in SD slot so that it will recognize my 2GB card.

I've been searching all over the place to see if there is some new driver or something. Anyone have any ideas?

Many card readers that are not new cannot read cards greater than 1GB.

I think you're right. I was just hoping there was a way to remedy the situation with a driver or something.
