Memory can be upgraded, integrated gfx still play games. May I suggest a calculator as the sentia is competitvely priced, and you get what you pay for. As for why?..... see my next response...

You saved all that money and got a run of the mill boorish cow for a notebook with a second rate geforce gfx card, haha! I have a hot sexy b*tch for a laptop that DOES play BF-Vietnam.

Not only does it load it, and play it, but it makes fools out of people who make posts about it not being able to do so.

To those of us who bought a Sentia- Congradulations
You coulda been average and plain and bought a toshiba but you wanted to stand out in a crowd and let everyone know you are the Wolf to be feared in a sea of miindless lambs named dell sony and toshiba.

Archalien's My Hero!!!!!!!! could'nt have said it better!!!!!!!!!
Well, not MY hero, but I do agree with everything he said

I also agree with what Craig said; the Sentia isn't a gaming notebook, so it shouldn't be treated as such.

Always with the Sentia Hate!
It is a gaming notebook, see... I play games on it!
While it s not the best gaming experience, no laptop is, so why continue to argue this tired point that it is not a gaming laptop when indeed it is.
Allow me to quote Craig's quote that I'm agreeing with:

The point is that the Sentia's gaming performance doesn't make it a good or bad laptop, it's irrelevant; Alienware sells a gaming laptop, and the Sentia is not it. It's NOT a bad laptop because it has poor gaming performance, because it's gaming performance doesn't matter.

How my agreeing with you and Craig that the Sentia's gaming performance is irrelevant is hating, I don't know. Maybe you're just flaming again.
Im not flaming-
Alienwares marketing is just that marketing.......
It has great gaming perfomance compared to probably 90% of all PC's in use- so again this arguement is poor. Saying it is a poor gaming performer is subjective not objective and Id appreciate you nost trying to pass your oppinions off as fact.
I think you're both saying the same thing if you read closely. Sentia is a much better gaming rig than most lappers out there...but when subjected to the upper tier of gaming laptops, it is a much better Light solution that is geared towards office apps and light gaming.

Archalien you are full of it.

The sentia is not a gaming notebook and that is a fact!!
Even the most basic graphics card is 100 times better than integrated graphics. All major review sites have posted this fact numerous times with benchmarks to prove it (most notably www.tomshardware.com).
Despite your claims the sentia will not play new graphic intensive games such as bf vietnam, or upcoming doom 3. I know this because I tried to play some games on a sentia myself. Keep in mind that loading the intro screen does not count as playing a game.

You call yourself a supreme alienware overlord.

Post the truth because all you sound like is your supremely full of it!!

All I can say is keep this civil or this thread will go away VERY fast.

Dont get mad nobman cuz I knew I was buying a laptop w/ integrated gfx while you got fooled by marketing into thinking you got a gaming gfx card only to find out the gforce fx blows(see Tomshardware.com).
why dont you go hang on the toshiba forums...........
My Sentia still slaps your toshiba around.
HA Think that if it makes you feel better. Why dont you post 3dmark2001se, 3dmark2003, pcmark2002 scores for your sentia. I willl be glad to post mine.

As for tomshardware I know all about their reviews that is why I directed you their to get your integrated graphics reveiw. My card is not the best but tomshadware states it is monumentally better.
Tomshardware also states that synthetic benchmarks are garbage! so take your scores and logoff dude.

If you read anything that you say you have you would know that the only games the sentia doesnt play are the games that require hardware T&L. And while several games shipped like that, game company's realized the large market they alienated(pun not intended) and quickly released patches, and are now shipping with the ability for software T&L.

If you are sooo happy w/ your toshiba why do you spend so much time in the AW boards??? You dont see me over on toshibas whinning and complaining, oh yeah thats cuz my rig rocks!!

wow did your toshiba run out of ram so that all you could do is repost?
OK... while I have stated that the Sentia is ok for light gaming... saying that it is better than the Toshiba is somewhat ....

First of all... even the 32mb ATI 7500, does better than the intel extreme2, at UTK3.

The 5200 in his toshiba is better than the 7500, so that would mean that it is also better than the intel extreme2.

Not flaming at all... in fact I have stated before that this is a thread, but just wondering where you got that from archalien.

Oh and about benchmarks being garbage... ill have to agree with that. UNLESS, these are fps from games. FPS in games is all that matters to me.
I didnt say the 5200 wasnt better, just that its still garbage for gaming compared to a real gfx card like a 9800, or even a 9600 if we exclude desktops. And for all his complaining about gfx card shortfalls, My laptop has a faster processor, faster ram, faster hdd, better screen...... [&&] it looks better!!!

And then I began trying to understand, why it was that you said that. I assumed that by that statement... comparing video would also be important. But ill grant it to you though... hehe the Sentia does look hella better. Probably better than most laptops out there.
Here's a nice comparison on my own with Call of Duty.

On one desktop I have Invidia with 32 MB video. The frames were choppy which I could describe as 1, 2 or maybe 3 frames per second.

Installed SIS 64 MB video on the same computer and could not even open the "intro" screen.

My Sentia with Intel Extreme 2 plays Call of duty with no problems at 1024/768 res.

Another post describes that the most basic cards beat the Intel Extreme, which I respond with "BLAH!" The reviews that I have found so far would even say that the Intel extreme 2 will not play ANY games. I have to say that the reviews and the their "benchmarks" are flawed along with the idea that numbers in these tests is indicative of the card being to play a game. My post and my test although limited in hardware tested is from real time game test which is worth 100 times more than what TOMSHARDWARE can say about it. I wade through the propaganda and in the end what matters most is what I see for myself.

I do understand that FPS makes a difference when it comes to game play. But I would like to point out that a MOVIE is around 30 frames per second which I have not complained about in the years of watching.

I thank those who have stood up to defend my Sentia who themselves are also Sentia owners.
