This is the first time someone actually implied that eMachines is better than Hypersonic! Let's just say any argument of that sort can be easily dismissed.

PLEASE NOTE: the m860 (originally Arima w730k8 DTR) is now (well almost) available at accessmicro. http://www.accessmicro.com/content/p...seAction=AI730
WITHOUT ALL THE NICE OPTIONS.. But at least is there. Maybe an hypersonic one is going to arrive sooner than we tought.

Are there any indications that Hypersonic is going to put somwthing similar to the m:360 on the market???
they already did

they had it before voodoo
what are you talking about? there is no copal 56 chassis notebook in Hypersoic's store.

Anyone been reading the Voodoo forums? The 3dmark2003 scores aren't impressive at all...only slightly higher than 3000. Doesn't seem worth the wait for the 9700. That makes me sad, I really wanted an AMD64 M11 notebook.

Yeah, I looked at the many complaints about the m:860. Not encouraging, to be sure. I think I'm gonna go for the Sager 8790 when it's available with the WSXGA+ screen in a few weeks.

Is there any way to get a hypersonic notebook and not wait a month for it? I called them, and they said it is usually 3-4 weeks minimum for any of their systems.

I think the 2 people complaining have overly high expectations. Their scores are better on benchmarks, but, I agree with the folks who are saying it's silly to base your experience entirely on benchmarks.

I cannot imagine giving money to Intel, any more than my conscience lets me give any money to Wal Mart. My house is INTEL FREE - I support competition, not monopolists who strongarm manufacturers into stifling competition. It also amazes me that a company so small can make a product that is actually better than fat, lazy, monopolist Intel.

And the notebook you got is....what???
Weren't you just considering an Inspiron 9100 with a monopolistic CPU inside it???

I haven't gotten anything yet. On my first flight to New York next week, USAir will be flying a boxed up SFF PC with me and I've been offered a spot to lock it up over the weekend in the office.

Yes, I do consider pretty much anything that's out there now. If I hadn't been offered a spot to lock up my SFF I would have been forced into a second laptop (also today I will have administrator rights back on my work laptop, which is a recent decision and also lessens my need.)

I've been reading through the voodoo forums as well and several people have pointed out that you really should go by how the computer performs playing games or whatever you intend to use it for rather than going by the benchmark programs. I think I would have to agree especially when you're comparing two different processors with completely different architectures. I've read a few reviews about the AMD 64 being outperfromed for normal applications but coming out ahead for playing games despite the benchmark results.

The exceptional battery life and performance of the AMD 64 appeal to me much much more than a few points in some benchmark (although I would have expected the m860 to do better than 3000 in 3dmark2003 since laptop magazine got around I think 3600 for the aviator AX6 )

I think you'll have a great laptop no matter which one you choose but I wouldn't base my entire decision on some benchmarks. I'm going to pay more attention to what the owners think about the performance personally.

Just saw an ad of the AX7 in PC Gamer. No price and no eta. It claims to have a AMD Athlon 64 Mobile 3400+, which is either a mistake (read: DTR) or they are expecting a new AMD proc. But the suprise is...

This is not the same computer as the Voodoo M:860. The picture provided in the ad is clearly a Clevo D470. Which means this is the same as the Eurocom Python D470K! But the screen is a 15.1inch SXGA+. (???)

This sure puts a new spin on Hypersonic's responses to some of the emails a few people sent, as well as Rahul's comments on voodoo forums...

Great find, Delta! The inconsistency I see is that HS claims the AX7 screen is 15.1" SXGA, but the Python is a 17" widescreen, as is the notebook in that photo. I think HS got their photos mixed up...again! They still advertise the ZX7 on their website, but it's been replaced by the GX7.

If HS really doesn't plan to carry an m:860, then my notebook plans are gonna take quite a turn. The Sager 8790/HS GX7 has the new WSXGA+ 17" screens, but they're apparently the same as is on the HP ZD7000. I tried the ZD and its screen was very bright, with vivid colors, but just way too glossy for me.

A fully-decked out desktop is starting to look better and better as the way I probably ought to go. I could always get a good used thin and light notebook for the times I want a mobile PC with me. Hmmmm...

I later realized that too. (Made note of it in my original post) But I think it is more likely they got the screen size wrong rather than the picture wrong. (Ok..I have no clue which fact they got wrong...I just wish they got the spec rather than the picture wrong so I wouldn't have to go ODM-searching again! LOL)

Actually that sounds closer to Hypersonic's AX6.
