Yeah that's exactly it . . . . happened to buy my E1705 when Dell ONLY offered the ATI card for a couple weeks there . . . . didn't do my research and it's left me a bit hurting at times . . .

I know you said the guy effectively crushed the thing in half, but... -did by chance the mousepad itself come out unscathed? The mouse pad is dead center, but it's also relatively small, so I figured I'd ask.

I'm looking for one (yours is Synaptics) to replace the one in my 9200 (Alps).
