New Geforce Mobile GPU's

Today with the launch of santa rosa Nvidia has released the new DX10 GPU's as promised.

If you look on the Nvidia website you can see they've released the 8400M and 8600M, but what had me more excited is at the bottom of this page:

http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_m_series.html

where it says, "Coming soon – The GeForce 8M Series for enthusiast will be released in the summer of 2007!".

I can't wait to see those , and I'm glad we don't have to wait until the fall like alot of the people here thought.

Great! I'd love to see what comes from this.

Those are good news, specially for the 8800GS, however I wonder about a 8800GTX or if the 8800GS can be modded.

...oh sheesh... Welcome the photoshop & Inquirer links.. we already know the 8400/8600 series will be released. we are not expecting the 88XX seies until Q3. until they have a die shrink & fix power consumption/heat issues it will not be in the mobile platform...

I think we just need to add a new forum called upcoming technology so we can clear some of this stuff out of here unti lit exits the vaporware stage...

It says it right on the Nvidia site: "8M Series for enthusiast" in summer 2007. What, this is speculation too? Summer is still Q2 isn't it?

Well it doesn't say enthusiast 88xx seies now does it...for all you know that might be referring to the 8600 series GT cards.

I have 1 word for you...Chill

Did you even look at the page? The 8600M GS and GT cards *are* there already. In the enthusiast column, only 6800, 7800, 7900 and 7950 cards are listed. I think it's pretty reasonable to conclude that it talks about the 8800M GS card coming this summer, especially since the newer inf's contain support for that card (but no 8800M GTX).

lol, I'm calm, sorry if you took it the wrong way.

They wouldn't be referring to the 8600GT because that was released today. If you look at this list if you haven't:

http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_m_series.html

They provide a list for what they consider "Enthusiast" and none of those cards have ever been less than x800.

Edit: lol, m94mni, you beat me to the response.

Yes I looked at the page & took it with a grain of salt as everyone else should... I've been around for quite awhiel & have seen my share of upcoming releases & stick by my statement... you don't see them stating 88xx series cards coming Q2 summer 07... Perhaps there is a reason why... As far as name dropping in an inf, that means nothing..

They have the radeon 9800 (desktop) in the inf file almost a year before it came out. I remember this from the days I was into desktops & so much speculation was flying around it was a joke.

I'll believe it when I see it.

edit:

BTW..when was the last time you actually have seen a product come out on schedule?

Okay, I respect that . No worries

Didn't these new GPU's today come out on schedule? lol, but really, it shouldn't matter (unless you need a new laptop soon) if the G80M or whatever high-end GPU comes out in Q2 or Q3, I don't see any DX10 games or any games a 7950GTX can't play on max. I'm personally holding out for Crysis and I believe that's still slated for the fall.

...erg CP (SA) wa supposed to come out early o7....Seems like it's mid 07 to me...

Aside from that why are you arguing semantics? you know exactly what I am referring to. If you think they are coming out in the summer wait until they come out this summer & then beat me over the head with it. Until it dies though you might want to hold off your assumptions.

Hey, we're just trying to be optimistic, that's all :-) We'll see...

I said I respect what you think is going to happen. I'm not pushing my assumptions at you, I was just questioning yours. All I said from the beginning is that Nvidia said that it's coming out this summer and I don't see why that wouldn't be reasonable credit in believing in a G80M soon (especially since these new GPU's came out on schedule just like they promised).

I just don't like when people say there's no way we'll see it until Q3 like it's fact and that people believing on it coming out earlier are being stupid, because that's just as an assumption as anything else. That's why I was arguing.

...As I stated earlier "take it with a grain of salt".. you guys seem pretty uptight about the whole release date debate.

Why would Dell not want to be a Launch partner.
Are they jumping to ATI? The R600 series or are they weary with the lack of decent drivers for Nvidia and Vista?

Sol any thoughts..
