My internal LAN NIC seems to have stopped working - kind of. WinXP thinks everything is dandy - device manager shows all OK. The hub (and other devices I've tried) think that there is satisfactory link level connection. i.e. link light comes on. Also WinXP reports that it's connected at 100Mbits (which is correct, I'm connected into a 100Mbit hub).
Trouble is, no packets are getting in or out. I have completely removed the device and driver files and re-installed. Comes up again happy but still no packets get through.
Are there any MAC layer tests I can easily do?
I'm using a Wireless USB 802.11b adaptor and it works fine. So it seems that LAN software is OK otherwise.
Any suggestions as to what to try next are much appreciated.... is it possibly hardware? Seems unlikely because all the physical layer stuff seems OK.
