Is it worth it to update my Dell Latitude C840 (2003) to an Aurora m9700?

Hi, I've had this laptop (a dell latitude c840) for quite a while now, and I use it extensively. I've always needed it for photos (it runs kind of slow on photoshop) but now that I'm trying to use it for Video editing it seems deathly slow (I did lose one 256 mb ram to glitches, maybe that's the problem).

Basically, I just came across a deal where I could get an Alienware Aurora m9700 for around $300, brand new. Is that worth it? I know that that laptop has this sli system, but would that help with video editing, or just with gaming??

What do you think? is it worth it to upgrade? Thanks

Umm a brand new m9700 for 300 bux?

First, if that's true, give me 20 plz...

Second, any laptop for $300 new is a major steal, especially with that power and sli!!

At that price it's a SCAM.

Nobody would sell a computer like that for $300, wise up as you probably will lose that money if you go for it.

Lemme say it again. It has SCAM written all over it.

I would stay away.

I am almost in College, and someone responded to an ad I put out, asking for a donated laptop. They said they had the Aurora m970, and, since their company gave it to them, they didn’t need it, as they already had faster. He told me he’d be willing to sell it for $250-$500. What do you think? Scam? He’s willing to use paypal

It sounds too good to be true still. Ask him to send you pics (taken by him) of his computer.

Although Paypal offers buyer protection they just don't happily give you the money back just like that.

Still, I would stay away.

If he has no use for the laptop, then why wouldn't he sell it for its fair market price, which is somewhere well over $1000? Why would he sell it for over a grand less than what it's worth? Does this person not like money? It's a scam, even if he does take pics of the laptop with his name on it doesn't mean it's legit. Stay away from this unless you really enjoy losing money.

Ok, you guys have a point. I guess I'll forget about that deal. But If I am a college-bound high school senior who loves to edit video and play some games, what laptop would you recommend?

Depends on budget and what you're looking for. Are you looking for high graphics performance, large screen, a balance between graphics power and portability (smaller computer size)?

Yeah, it's best we know what you need from a Laptop before we can start suggesting. There's lots of things out there.

As far as the m9700 for $300 deal. I wouldnt' even take that deal if the guy were physically in front of me with the Laptop and letting me play games on it. Because odds are, it's stolen. And over the internet, it doesn't exist. But the guy will happily take your money.
