My Sony Vaio is not powering up from the main

hi, i have a problem with my sony laptop, can someone help me out please.
it all started when i put a cd in the drive, and then whle the cd is read, it made noises until the laptop computer rebooted, even since it does not power up from the mains and when the switch is pressed, the light just flashes but it does not get the power to bootup. but when the battery is put in, it boot ups, and thus not chargin the battery either, i

I actually have the same problem with my VGN-T250P... And now it won't even turn on. No lights, no sounds, nuthn. This happened during a 3D demo loop to test overheating.

Mine is still quite dead. I put a multimeter to the power brick and it put out 21v one day and 19v another day although I think it says 16v on the label. That can't be right.
I also checked the battery on the sony recall site and apparently it's eligible for recall, so that could have contributed to that.
It's going to bite having to take the computer to the repair shop, I know it's going to cost me an arm an a leg.
