in Vista goto start button>right click on computer>manage>disk management> then right click on the partition you wish to chop up and select "shrink volume" from there the value you select will be the size of the new partition, so you'll do this three time to have four partitions.

Just remember to leave plenty of space for the main partition for Vista especially with only a 120 gig drive, cause the crap will start adding up really fast on that partition.

thx for feedback
i did it 2-3days before
it is done
i have kept 25gb for vista
is it ok?
25 is a little low, especially if you are going to load programs into that same partition. The clean install of the OS is anywhere from 8-10gigs roughly and then the pagefile will also be around a gig or higher. so unless you plan on installing programs on one of those other partitions you might run into trouble.

9.73gb is free after installing all my programms
i have taken systemrestore also..
will it ok?
if not then can i add some space from another partition now?

it might be a little low if you add more software, but for now you are ok, but boarder ok. Which version of Vista are you using?

and if you ever want to add to original partition then there is a certain way to do it. go into your disk management again and find the first partition to the right of your c drive, now move everything important off that partition via explorer and then from disk management right click on the partition just to the right of the c drive and select delete. once it is deleted you can then right click on the c drive partition and select extend. You cannot use any other pertition it has to be the first one to the right of the c drive for it to work. But hey at least there is some kinda partitioning function in windows now without an addon program.

not your c drive I said the first partition to the right of your c partition, it may be the d e f g h i j..... partition that's why I did not add a letter. After you get everything you want off that partition(via windows explorer) then go into disk managment and delete that partition(the first partiton to the right of the c partition and it can only be the first partition to the right of the c partition) then right click on the c partition and select "extend volume" and go through the steps, it will not format your c partition so don't worry about that.

beside c there is d drive
it is recovery drive
i cant add or remove anything from that

do i need format any from e,f,g?cant i do without formatting?as i have transferrred my data from pc to laptop and filled all drive just yesterday

you dont need to do anything, right now there is enough room on your c drive, but later on you will need more room. And unfortunatly with Vista's built in partition tool, very basic, it is limited to what partition it can take and give from, I know of the recovery partiton from HP but that one can be skipped I do believe so the next drive is what you would have to delete if you wanted to add more space to the c drive. you do not have to format the c drive at all it will just suck the next partition into it without format, but that other partiton will loose everything on it so it can be added to the c drive partition.
