Hello.
My mostly trustworthy and weight-lifting exerciser decided to play tricks on me just a few hours before a business trip.
I had to go buy another machine to get the job done so now I'm trying to find out if it's worth it to salvage the Acer or just scrap it.
What happened is: the screen went blank while I was typing.
Not a case of runaway fingers either. I can connect an external monitor and work with it but it never switches back to the LCD. Just a dark screen without any backlight either.
The backlight's gone I guess but I'm not familiar with the electonics to know for sure.
Does anybody know what it might cost to fix it and how complicated would it be? Could some electronics store handle it or only Acer?
The laptop is out of warranty and I'd rather not pay the Acer prices, the month of waiting and the reformatting of the hard disk which seems to be a standard practice for them. At least that's what they planned to do just to replace the CD-ROM drive on it (it took 15 minutes to do it on my own).
Thanks for any suggestions.
