Alienware decides a week before its release to push back the release date until June 15!! I have been waiting for this thing to come out forever. Alienware is pissing me off!!!

be fair warned. i was in the same boat as you for the m9700, i was actually one of the first to ever get one.

it was delayed months for the original release date, not saying that will happen to you, but it takes time to create perfection.

I you really need a notebook "right now" a pre-release may not be the best idea for you....

just an FYI

Just got off the phone with Alienware UK Tech Support and spoke o a guy who told me that the only reason the system is not currently out is due to them waiting for Centrino Pro (aka Santa Rosa) to be released fully to them.

My main reason for calling was that the UK configurator page states May 31st as the Estimated Shipping Date, he said that this could be realisitic and it just depends on when they receive the new chipset's

Had the m9750 coming with Santa Rosa been confirmed?

It's been hinted at pretty heavily but nothing was positive. Are you saying that it now is? Also did he say anything about an increase in price or did they plan ahead and incorerate it in the config? Also you're saying May 31st ship date (the *old* date)and the thread owner is saying June 15th release date, meaning the ship date would be even later, so....who's right?
I queried that it was infact Centrino Pro and he had no doubt whatsoever, I hadn't even planned on bringing it up, the only reason he mentioned it was to explain why they can't start building them yet.

I don't know if the thread owner is talking about a US date (or whether his info is more or less informed than mine), whereas I'm talking about the date quoted on the uk configurator page.

http://www.alienware.co.uk/Configura...de=SKU-DEFAULT

I haven't managed to find the UK overview page so if anyone has please post.

Also on the date front, that is one thing that he didn't seem overly sure about, as they're waiting on Intel and haven't been given a date from them, but he never hinted that he thought it was impossible, or that he'd heard anything to the contrary.

the m9750 is gonna be one of the most badass notebooks ever made, waiting for it will make the experience that much better :P
post #8 of 99
it will be worth the wait, delays w/ technology is always a given...better to wait for RnD to have worked all the bugs out then for you to get a half-assed non working system aka a large and expensive paper weight =D

so hopefully when it is officially released, drivers, software, hardware everything should be in working order w/ great support etc.

exactly. I'd would rather have AW take their time pan out the kinks then rush it and have it have a lot of kinks not worked out.

Its still odd though, that they would open the configuration for the 9750, but not say its Santa Rosa, but upon release, it suddenly is? I find that odd. my 9750 is in phase 6 now, and I wouldn't be surprised to see it ship by the end of this week, or the beginning of next. Of course, I purchased mine from Alienware US, but I doubt that it would get an instant revision.

I dont know how much longer I can stand waiting.. The anxiety is already making my head feel like its going to explode...

The longer I have to wait, the more stuff I buy for it.. Take yesterday for example.. I couldnt stop thinking about the lappy so I bought 4GB RAM for it from Frys... 245$.. Was an awesome deal that im glad I didnt pass up.. And I felt better, then thismorning I get an email saying its already been shipped, and now im back to being WAY overly anxious..

thats not Pro or SR, the SR series are all 800Mhz, that one still 667Mhz.

Regardles, still going to kick some serious a$$
post #13 of 99
no one said the page stated that it was Pro, I posted the link in reply to someone querying the estimated delivery date.
Sorry, i was stating that it does not look like the m9750 is currently SR, i dont even see a US link anywhere, first time i saw the config page was here.

I get kinda sick of us being ripped off :> really. but nothing has angered me since the playstation 2 came out. I'm kind of just.. grumpy about it. the ps2 was 249 dollers, iirc, and 249 pounds. (might of been 299... anyway same number) with the rate of about 1.7 dollers to the pound. i was livid for about a month about it its BS. AW isnt great but if you work it out its not that much worse.. with VAT and such (do american pay anything like that?) its not THAT FAR over the straight conversion... I ordered mine today so i'm just.. really happy you can finally pre order in Europe and trust me you don't want to buy now. pay in feb. has about a 30% interest rate if you cant pay it in full before the first payment date. you could easily end up paying 1/3 more than your machine is worth

Yeah VAT is a killer... we tend to pay sales tax (depending on the state it is being shipped to) but that is on top of the listed price...

Currently I've got a pretty good setup whereby I'm going to grad school in England, but have family in the state of Oregon (which has no sales tax), so I get the computer shipped to Oregon and then because I'm bringing it into the UK for "personal education" purposes that exempts any VAT. And the timing works out just right for a trip back to the states to pick it up
