need advice on a new laptop

Well, I've had my trusty Gateway M680 for almost two years now, and though I love it, I'm sure as heck not dragging it with me to Europe for a semester.

What I'm looking for is something that is much more travel-friendly, especially since I'll need to take it to someplace with WiFi anytime I want to connect to the internet. Basically I need it to be:
  • under 6 pounds
  • 14" widescreen, maybe 15.4" if it's still really light
  • at least 4 hours of battery life
  • under $2000 (including Vista)

It doesn't need to be a powerhouse. Most of what I'll be needing it for is word processing, internet, music, and occasional photo editing.

Secondary factors are, in order of importance: screen quality, sturdy build, stylish design.

So far, I have my eye on the W3J, but I have heard bad things about the battery life. Are there some good, comparable alternatives out there that meet my needs?

Thanks in advance.

Have you looked into apple?

Check out the sony SZ series...also the Asus A8xx series as well.

Don't go Vista unless you want to go out and buy all new software.

Vista is actually making Apples look like a good alternative...If you want to consider OSX, definitely give the 13" macbooks a look.
