Anyone have Supreme Commander?

post #1 of 3

I'm a little confused with how my laptop runs supreme commander, I've been looking for people with the Go7800/7900/7950 GTX who have run the tests as well but haven't been able to find anyone else with whom I can compare results to.
(To run SupComs performance test, amend your shortcut target to look like this:
"C:\Program Files\THQ\Gas Powered Games\Supreme Commander\bin\SupremeCommander.exe" /map perftest
)

Ok, so the two machines I am comparing are my M1710: Vista Ultimate, 2gb 667mhz ram, T2500, 7900GTX

And my desktop: Windows XP SP2, 2Gb at 667mhz, 8800GTX, and an E6400. This machine was built pretty much to spec off of the guide at TomsHardware and is running at 3.15ghz perfectly stable and cool. Like the review states, the proc is blazing fast and should easily outperform the M1710's T2500...

Ok, and the scores come in:

M1710 (Sim): 8050
M1710 (Render): 3500

Desktop (Sim): 8100
Desktop (Render): 8150

I'm concerned about the M1710, first off why is the Sim (CPU) score so high? I'm curious if you other T2x00 users see similar results. The OC E6400 should thrash the T2500 but they are neck and neck for some reason. Not that I'm complaining of course

And, Is this low of a Render score normal? I know it wouldn't be the 8000+ of the 8800, but 3500 seems a bit low. My powermizer isn't showing up anywhere anymore and I'm wondering if it's being throttled back or something.

that was pretty cool, i never knew about that test. also, i thought F@H might mess up my results, but apparently, it's set to lowest priority, so i guess it stopped while this test was going. anyway, my system specs are in my sig, and i seemed to have gotten this:

SupComMark (sim) : 8255
SupComMark (render) : 2907
SupComMark (composite) : 11162

my results seem to be in about the same range, though isn't the 2500m supposed to be essentially the same as the 7900gtx, just not as optimized as much for gaming? i'd imagine the rendering has to do with the gpu, and as the 8800 is a good deal more powerful than the mobile 7900, that might account for that big difference. i don't know though, since i dont really know what these numbers mean,
