Question Regarding Vista Complete PC Backup

Hello,

I want to know if Vista Complete PC backup will work properly on the following option:

my hard disk is partitioned to 3 partitions (120Gb):
1. 30Gb - Vista Business 32Bit is installed
2. 30Gb - Vista Enterprise 64Bit is installed
3. 60Gb - For Data and backup purposes.

I want to backup partitions 1+2 together from Complete PC Backup that is installed in 32Bit to the 3rd partition. my question is:

1. will it backup the 2 partitions properly including the the 64bit? (will I be able to run the 64bit after making a restore).
2. Can I open the VHD file and copy files from it? (like ghost 2003 file - GHO?)
3. Is Vista complete PC backup like Ghost 2003?

NO it's nothing like Norton Ghost.............I have Never been able to get Vista Complete PC back to even work, and after the last 4 months I just givin up on it, I still get this error everytime I try and back it up to my external USB Hard Drive

"The backup applictaion Could Not Start due to an internal error server execution FAILED (0x8008005) Please check you system configuration and try again"

Doing a Clean install of Vista Ultimate still didn't fix this problem, and buying a brand new USB USB Hard drive didn't fix it...........I just use Norton Ghost 2003 in DOS w/ a Boot CD, now that works GREAT ,if your thinking of buying Vista Ultimate just for that backup program, your wasting your money!!!! just buy an imaging program like Norton Ghost, or TA 10, at least they do work! I can asure you that Windows Vista Ultimate Complete PC backup, IS NOT A RELIABLE BACKUP PROGRAM!!!

aside from it not working for some people, the answer is no. it backs up all drives on your machine, doesn't let you pick and choose

2-3 months ago, I tried to backup my notebook with norton ghost 2003 (I had Windows xp + Windows vista ultimate 32bit installed).
When I made a restore by a Norton Ghost, the boot up didn't work (The windows vista selection screen).
I would like to know if there is a newer version of ghost 2003, or I would like to know if somebody used ghost 2003 and didn't have this problem.

I can't do a test on the current laptop because the OSs are installed by my organiziation.

Here's what you did wrong? while in XP you have to use the Norton Ghost 2003's Clone feature,or bootup w/ a norton boot disc as Norton Ghost 2003 won't work in Vista, (only in DOS)

The best way to do this, is with an external USB drive the PC will bootup into DOS, form there, you should see both Partitons XP & Vista, your source drive being C:/ with XP and Vista being D:/ is what you want to clone as it contains both XP & Vista Partitons.

if you are using a DVD disc to make an image of both partitons, then you will need to image XP, and then image Vista, as a DVD isn't large enough to hold both XP & Vista Partitions, after you clone your Hardrive to a external USB Drive, in order to restore it you will have to use your Vista DVD to repair the startup.

After you do that reboot and then you should see both options at bootup, choose whatever option XP or Vista to bootup form your boot screen, after the repair with the Vista DVD, you should see something that looks like this at the boot screen: The 1st option should be the MS previous OS (XP) and the 2nd option should be Vista OS, if you don't feel comfortable doing this, and don't want to use DOS, and like using the Windows interface instead of DOS, you can buy Norton Ghost 12 OUT NOW, and it's Vista Compatiable, also, you can download the FREE Norton Ghost 12 trialwear to see if this meets your needs
