screen saver seems to kill wifi connect

Anyone else have this problem?

I have an intel 2200b/g card hooked to an smc barricade. When the system is sitting on my desk making a long download, it will go to screen saver, and sometimes lose connection. Can be a pain.

change the power properties FOR THE CARD. Disable powermanagement for the interface. Go to the properties for the card click configure under the card listing, above the protocols. Advanced tab. Pick the one that turns off powermanagement.

Erg. My drivers in combo with the asus power 4 gear utility has nothing on removing the wifi card from power mgmt. The intel proset util aint no help niether.

Guess I am living with it, until they change the driver/util functionality.

turn off the screensaver

It's not a driver "feature" I don't think. Of course your other software may be blocking it.

My Fujitsu n5010 does the same, Even for my 10/100 connection...
Returning from standby and I already lose the connection, Very unfortunate when I am running the system and have option set to StandBy when lid is closed.
*Sigh*

If you have zonealarm installed that is your problem, there is a setting in zonealarm that when the screensaver turns on it blocks all internet traffic.
