External Speakers + Macbook Pro

Alright, so I decided today to get rid of my desktop set up, because I never use it since I've got my Macbook Pro. So, I detached the desktop set up, and hooked up the Macbook Pro to my 24" monitor and everything.. I'm kind of upset I didn't decide to do this earlier.

There's just one problem. I hooked the MBP to to my Logitech Z-5500 speakers, and I get terrible interference noises.. Which I found to be strange, since I never got anything like it with my desktop - even at high volumes, and I've never heard it before when using headphones with the MBP. Any ideas?

So the headphones are ok, but the speakers are messed up...

Running through basic questions to get them out of the way
Are you sure you have the right connector, I know that some computer speakers sets that I have seen have more than 1 connector.

Is it possible that the speaker line is now lying near or on a power line?

I'm using a standard 3.5mm to 3.5mm connector to connect the computer to the speakers.

And, yes, it is lying in close proximity to a power cord (the speakers ARE powered), but it's never made a difference before.

Thanks for the reply!

heh, well, i just moved within my condo complex. my desktop speakers which have never had a problem are now picking up a local radio station of all things. turns out the audio is fine coming directly from the sound card but the speakers catch the static/signal. i'm about to re-align my speaker setup to see if that will help.

Well the speakers haven't moved, and they work fine when they are switched to other inputs, such as the PS2 and Wii.. Does anyone else happen to have a macbook pro and Logitech Z-5500's?
