After a lot of looking around and reading reviews I configured a Z61t with T5500 core 2 duo, 2GB RAM and 120GB HDD with bluetooh, WAN and a DVD writer. Unfortunately, I decided to go for the titanium version which came only with WXGA+ and that was a major problem. The text is too small and the screen just isn't bright enough. It's a matte screen and I dont mind that. I have been using a Dell Inspiron 2650 for the last 4 years and have been very happy with it. This colours on the Z61t were in fact poorer than on my old Dell. That really put me off. And while I tried to use it at a lower resolution of 1200x800 the letters are not sharp enough and the screen is therefore useless at any other resolution than the default 1400x900 or something! Also, when I was watching a movie in full screen mode the colours were all wrong, and they got OK when I set the screen resolution to 1200x800. That's what basically made me return it! I am not a gamer and dont really need a comp with a separate GPU! Though I am pretty sure that this model should have been able to play the movie OK!
Otherwise I think it was a pretty good machine, fast and the key board of course is the best! The inbuild web camera is way better than the one's on HP dv2000 series. I use Vista without all the gimmicky animations for windows etc. Same with XP. The machine works much faster without windows crawling into the screen and creeping out! I think it is a great computer for daily use, but I would recommend the non-titanium WXGA resolution screen.
