ASUS G2S-A1 or C90S?

Hello folks,

I studied both specs but have some questions for you.

About G2S-A1 specs, I am so impressed by its specs like WUXGA, backpack/optical mouse included, etc. When will it be out? Next month?

Now I looked into C90S specs and noticed that desktop-replacement components because it supports desktop proessor, upgradable video card, etc. But it uses WSXGA+ (1680x1000 resolution).

I have some questions for you now. Does G2S-A1 support upgradable video card like C90s? Can I upgrade DVD writer to Blu-Ray/HD-DVD internal drive when it comes out? How reliable is desktop processor in C90s laptop like mobile processor?

Thanks!
Tim

I'm pretty sure the G2S will not have upgradeable video cards

I'm not sure if you can swap the DVD drive for an HD-DVD or Blu-Ray one

Since Intel's desktop processors are based on their mobile processors, I don't think the desktop CPU in the C90 will have any reliability problems.

Heya sword, I am pleased you made this thread because I am having the same issues on picking between the two!. I guess my only reservation between the c90 would possibly be the battery life, but I am not to sure what the difference on battery life between the two would be. The c90 seems to be a smart choice because of upgradable options, but the g1 seems to be awesome because it can do 4 gigs of ram and hell, it looks cool . So I guess my only question would be the difference between battery life, and which would be the overall better option as a college guy for multipurpose use!

G1S would be easily better for battery life, based on Intel's proclamations and independent testing between the VX2 and VX2S- the Santa Rosa model had 11% better battery life. Go to http://xtreview.com/review194.htm for the full comparison.

Also, the G1 seems like it would be more mobile (no fan in the back to catch in a bag or backpack) and quieter for taking notes in class.

There's no point of getting 4GB of RAM because Vista only recognizes up to 3GB and besides the C90 takes 3GB so you're good to go. Anyway, the battery life is supposedly like 1.5hrs I think or at least close to that. The desktop processor will definitely net you more power in games in addition the C90 has a "gaming mode" that automatically overclocks the processor so you'll get more processing out of that. The weird thing though about the C90 is that supposedly it has a lot of the Santa Rosa features like Wireless-N, Robson (I think), and it might have the Dynamic Acceleration but I'm pretty sure it doesn't.

I think the C90 will be quiet because it has 4 fans. Think about it you could have 2 fans running at like 3000RPM (I'm not sure how fast fans are) which would be pretty loud I'd imagine it's like a mini hard drive, or you could have 4 fans running at 1500RPM each so I think it'll be quieter overall.
