In 4 weeks I'm going to europe, and I have 2 laptops to take with me. Can someone tell me if i could have problems carrying 2 items, and some other tips for traveling with laptops. Does there exists a backpack that could carry 2 laptops? thx guys!

why two laptops...

i'm not sure how international flights are, but when i come home for breaks by plane, i often have both of my laptops, and i don't usually have issues getting through security. only problem is that it can get pretty heavy with all my stuff, though it is a 17" and a 12", so the 17" starts off decently heavy and takes up a lot of space. what sizes are your systems?

As far as US airports go, you'll be fine. It would be best to keep them in one bag, and make sure you keep a watchful eye on both of them before and after they go through the scanner. As yee asked, we need to know the sizes of your systems so we can point you to some decent backpacks.

I don't know how protective you are of the laptops, in terms of getting them scratched up, but i used to travel with just my backpack and a messenger bag for my clothes, and i'd just wrap my laptop in a towel or a sweatshirt or something just to keep it from getting scratched up too much, in which case, any bag that's comfortable and is physically capable of fitting them both in there would be fine, but that's just my opinion. might want to get a good comfortable bag in case you're travelling a lot with it.

i will have the 15.4" Acer Aspire 5100 and the 15.4" Dell 6400... by the way do i need to get any papers from Dell, or there are just for exporting and reselling in need?! thx

sorry guys i didnt mentioned it before, but from Washigton DC to Europe I will be flying with another friend and I think she will be able take with her the second laptop at the security and customs. So in this case there should be no problems.
So since you said that you are traveling with 2 laptops in the US, there should be no problems for me. But if I am 17 years, could they make problems about this?
if someone could advise me with a backpack it would be really cool...
thx you all

try Shinza notebook sleeves. (www.shinza.com) That way you can just sleeve up the notebooks, and stick them inside another bag. It's what I've done for about 3 years now, and it's way more flexible than buying a notebook-specific backpack.

Only advice i have for you is do NOT check your baggage. TSA enjoys breaking laptop screens. Sidenote, also make sure they have a good charge. i was once asked to demonstrate that the computer would in fact, turn on, presumably to show it was not a shell for smuggling something more dangerous aboard.

On the tax side, you do not need to tax the computer if you take it as personal luggage or that both laptops are yours for work. Although if you would like to show them the receipts that you just bought them and want to take them out of the country I'm sure they'll be more than happy to tax them for you.

It was sarcasm. Tried to make a funny comment there.

No, you don't have to show them the receipts, you can just pass the laptops as yours, just tell them they're both for work.

If you show them the receipts, manuals and everything then they'll have to tax them and you'll be screwed.

Two is fine, I lugged my dell d600 and my AW 51m all over Europe and Asia, I had a Targus backpack that fit both.
