If you have a firewire cable, when you first set up the MacBook you can connect both computers and, with the eMac in FireWire Target Disk mode (boot while holding T) the MacBook will transfer all your settings, files, and programmes over from the eMac.

Here's more info: http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/setup/

Are you sure you have an eMac or an iMac? I didn't think there were eMacs before 10.3 came out.

yea via firewire and you basically make the drive from 1 pop up on the other

You only boot the eMac holding down T. But yeah, just connect them and the MacBook will take care of dragging all your stuff off.

And, I just did some checking...I didn't realise it but the eMacs were released before 10.2 was even released! I didn't think they were that old. You're lucky they didn't put 10.1 on there, heh.

10.2.9 is the last update.

There are tonnes of Applescript tutorials on the web. Automator can do a lot but you get finer control when writing your own scripts. Personally I find no use for it whatsoever.
