I've been waiting for some time to purchase a new laptop to replace my Presario X1000. I loved that computer, so I didn't want to replace it unless something else was good enough to justify the upgrade. Well, that day came yesterday.
I've been reading a lot about HP's business line of laptops, particularly the nw9440. I didn't like the price (starts at $2,200) but I really liked the features. However, after some searching, I found that a company named Eritech (http://www.eritech.com) sells refurbished nw9440's for a pretty big discount. They are refurbished by the factory and come with a 1-year mail-in warranty from HP. I was hesitant, but decided to try it. So, here is what $1,500 buys from Eritech:
2GHz Core 2 Duo T7200
1GB DDR2-667 RAM (on 1 stick!)
17" WSXGA+ screen (1680x1050)
Full-size keyboard with number pad
80GB 7200RPM hard drive
GeForce QuadroFX 1500M video card with 256MB of RAM (basically a 7900GS)
I couldn't believe my eyes when I opened the box this morning... The laptop came in its original HP packaging with manuals, cables, CDs, etc. The laptop looks like new, the screen is excellent (no dead pixels), and as far as I can tell there is nothing different from this unit than a new one. Now with the savings maybe I can afford some games to play on it.
I could not seem to find any good pictures of this thing before I ordered it, so I'll post some in a few minutes. All in all, I highly recommend this laptop from Eritech.
