Need help with my GF 7900 GS Go Videocard driver(Inspiron 9400)

As the title describe, I have some weird driver issue on my Inspiron 9400. For some reason it can't detect the videocard as a GF 7900 GS, instead it reads as a Standard VGA Videocard(as if no drivers detected apart from standard OS driver). I'm on Vista 32-bit and this problem appeared when I switched from stockdrivers to XGM drivers. Also when I try to reinstall any drivers found, the whole install process takes no more than 20 sec, but no real driver is actually installed. Even tried drivers provided by Dell, but with same result. I found out that the OS is capable of detect the GF 7900 GS card, but the problem seems to be with the drivers. Seems like something is missing, but on all of the drivers I tried :S?

My system specs are these:

Win Vista Home Premium 32-bit
T7200 2Ghz@2
2GB DDR2 Ram 667mhz
Geforce 7900 GS Go (550/600)
160 GB HD 5400 Rpm

I hope someone here is smarter than the avarage Dell tech :P

Not exactly sure the problem you are having, but it sounds to me like you did the uninstall video drivers then tried to install new ones but it says there is no video adapter available?
I had a simmilar issue, the only way I could find to resolve it is let vista install its 7900gs driver then run the driver install program for the driver you want (so it will overwrite the existing driver)
Not the cleanest install but works fine for me as long as I removed all traces of the driver, let vista install the driver it wanted then did an immediate install of the driver I wanted (no reboot).

Also, if the OS doesn't see the adapter at all, just go to harware management and right click and have it look for plug and play harware and it should find it then.

Hope this helps.

Yep vista has the 7900gs drivers added in but they are pretty old. 165.01 from laptopvideo2go are pretty good, at least till geforce toney releases some newer XG's
