dv9500t 4GB RAM??

Yes i know the max upgrade you can do on the website is 2GB, but technically it has 2 slots for RAM so is it upgradeable at all or is it just not compatible? I had a chat with an HP tech and i got sort of a mixed response:

Sherry: Hello Jonathan.
Sherry: Welcome to HP Total Care for Pavilion Notebooks. My name is Sherry. How may I assist you today?

Jonathan Bacha: hi i just recently talked on the phone with a sales associate about a purchase i want to make
Sherry: I will help you in this regard.
Jonathan Bacha: but i wanted to make sureof something before i make my purchase by asking a technician
Jonathan Bacha: the dv9500t, it is upgradeable up to 2GB ram, but i was wondering if the motherboard on the laptop allowed for 4GB of ram, i can do the upgrademyself, i just need to know the compatibility
Sherry: I will provide you the information.
Jonathan Bacha: thank you
Sherry: DV9000 series Notebook will support upto a max of 2.0 GB RAM.
Jonathan Bacha: so the motherboard is not compatible with 4GB at all?
Sherry: However infeature the Operatign system supports RAM modules more then 2.0 GB, the Motherboard installed in that model Notebook doesnot support more then 2.0 GB.
Jonathan Bacha: i see, thank you very much
Sherry: So upgrading the RAM modules above 2.0 GB is not advisible. since we dont have any tested information in this regard.
Sherry: If you are comfortable you can place the order through this cahat session.
Sherry: I will arange a call back to order it right now.
Jonathan Bacha: i will place it at a later time, i'm waiting for 8600m cards to come out
Sherry: Okay, you are most welcome.

Maybe it just means i can't or maybe i'm just being optimistic and hoping someone in this forum has already tried this with good results.

the mobo in your puter doesnt support more than 2 sticks x 1 gb each stick. period. your bios wont know what to do with it and if you put 2 sticks x 2 gb each stick in, you will get an error and the puter wont work. you are capped at 2 gb max. nothing you can do about it. some other brands of notebook are upgradeable to 4, like thinkpads, but generally hp's are not. sux. oh well. 2 gbs is still alot and you will be a happy guy with two gigs. i am.

matteversmansix, you're just as bad as the noobie HP tech support. i'm currently running 1x1GB + 1x2GB configuration in my dv9008tx laptop without any problems. so 2GB modules does work.

bachajonathan, have a read here http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=121815
the dv9500t laptops will have the i965 chipset. But i am not sure if u'll see the entire 4GB even if u install a 64 bit OS. with the dv9000t laptops that has i945 chipset, people were only able to see around 3.2GB if they tried to install 2x2GB of ram. However, people say that the i965 should be able to see the entire 4GB of ram. You can ask around even in all the other forums for the other brand laptops. If someone has a i965 chipset laptop and was able to see all 4GB of ram in a 64 bit OS, then the chances are it will work for the dv9500t laptops as well.
