12.1 vs 13.3 inch screens

Hello all, I’ve been looking to buy a portable laptop for awhile, and have pretty much nailed it down to either the M1210 or Sony Vaio SZ series.

All things being equal, I’d prefer the M1210 but am not sure if this size is just a little too small, I’ve been around all the shops and no-one carries anything smaller than 13.3 inches in my area, with Dell not having any physical show rooms to speak of.

The laptop will be used mainly be used for programming (so text size is important) and a bit of light gamming/web surfing.

Anyone have any thoughts on this? I might just buy the M1210 and return it within 2 weeks if I have any problems.

I've compared both models and didnt really see a big difference in screen size... I perfer the m1210 over the sony's because the dell seems built MUCH better... the sony feels junky versus the m1210 feels very solid.

well, i agree with jayno20 in regards to built quality of the m1210, although i have to admit you need to adjust to the 12 inch screen of the m1210 if your not used to small screen like me..

i came from an E1505 to the M1210 and i didnt have to adjust much...

i have some time adjusting, maybe because i have bad eyesight or its because i went from a crt desktop 15" to a lcd 12" laptop. but i like my m1210.

Give it a week working on an M1210 and you'll never want anything larger. My friends' 15" screens look so huge and impractical now. I'd only worry about the screen size if you already have problems with smallish print (like in your average paperback novel).

agreed, i was slightly concerned before i got mine but that disappeared on arrival. m1210 is a great size.
