Sager 9260 and the old Ford commercial

First, let me say that I have a fair amount of respect for Sager. I've visited their shop in the city of Industry here in California - unfortunately twice as a result of necessary motherboard replacements for my 9860.

Notwithstanding my problems with the 9860, their techs and support staff have been genuinely helpful as have their resellers at Powernotebooks; great folks all.

Still, as much as I would LOVE to get my hands on the new 9260; I'm going to wait. I don't care if they run out of stock and a waiting list develops.

I'm tired of being the pioneer and getting the arrows in MY back ... let others be first and work through the problems.

It's like the parody of the old Ford Commercial bestowed on Microsoft ... instead of "Ford, where Quality is Job One" ... like Microsoft, I fear that Sager is the same ...

"Sager, where quality is Job 1.2a"

Keep in mind Sager is just a middle man. These notebooks come from Clevo and are redistributed under many brands(eg Sager, Alienware, Dell, etc.) so pretty much all the gaming notebook retailers are subject to any issues like the ones on the 98X0 series(due to the P4 heat.) While your frustration is shared by many(myself included) lets not point the blame to Sager as they only work with what is available at the time, and to bring us the best and fastest out there. And unfortunately there just isn't a way to determine long term results. That said they have taken every possible precaution and lesson from the older models, and most of the notebook killing components are long gone.

Also if you do want to point the blame, do it towards Clevo whom refuses to issue a recall.

Heh, somebody just got one at notebookreview forum and said the 3dmark06 score was like 9000 something. (no screenshots though)
