thanks yang... quick update... my lappy is now on phase 5 oh joy and happy day ... after a week of a being patient, it paid off...
i've always wanted to say this: woot!

Phase 1: 5/23/07
Phase 2: 5/24/07
Phase 3: 5/25/07 (Confirmed over the phone)
Phase 4: 5/29/07

p.s. it says phase 5 and we know what happened last time it went up

if it follows the same "speed" as mine, you should have it shipped on the 13th of June..

by complaining I did get an increase to 2 day Fedex though

I got an email from FEd ex today stating mine shipped today 2 days. How nice of AW since I paid for the 5 day ground : )

Perhaps they felt quilty of the high shipping rates... i noticed they charge only 50.00 for S/H now VS 104.00

hmm, ordered yours 10 days after I did and it shipped one day after they shipped mine.. obviously whatever was delaying things is finally fixed..
mine is supposed to be delivered today

I said this in another thread, but I'll say it here too.. mine's pretty much DOA
it arrived in good condition, but shut down the first time I pressed a touchpad key. I thought it was maybe a fluke and turned it on again (took a while to be able to) and it appeared to work fine, for about 20 minutes.. I was still in the process of setting everything up and I pressed a key on the keyboard and it shut down again. Had to wait a while and it finally started back up, I pressed F2 to enter the BIOS and it shut down again and hasn't started up since.. I'm VERY pissed at them right now. You'd think after allegedly QCing it for a week it would be in perfect shape.. I'm guessing it had this issue and they couldn't figure out what it was so they shipped it anyhow.. freaking morons

Are you calling AW Support? Did you check if your HD or memory is loose? Sounds like a CPU issue... This is very disapointing... and mine is coming in Monday. What time did it arrive btw?

arrived around 1:15 PM. There's definitely something loose inside and I have to send it back. I guess the techs here in San Antonio aren't qualified enough to fix it. but they said it'll be back to me in 8-10 days and I'm sure as hell holding them to it too..
this is their first last and only chance though. if it has an issue when I get it back it's gone for good. not gonna play the game some people have played here..
sucks that this has to happen, especially when it's my wife's new computer..

Sorry to hear that dman. Maybe something got jarred loose during shipping? I just received two desktops at a clients and one required some reconnecting of cables and the other one was straight up DOA. I would bet that might be the case with yours. Give 'em a chance, but I wouldn't hold my breath on the 8-10 days, sometimes these things take time to sort out, especially if something is damaged inside.

well, I'm pretty much out of patience with them. so if they decide to jerk me around they're only screwing themselves..
it probably was with the shipping (fedex), but that's what they get for not placing a fragile or this side up label on the outside... best label I ever saw was a tube that changed color if it was ever not right side up. That was on a super expensive tape robot though, but it definitely worked

My Superman laptop is scheduled to arrive today. I know in the past I had to sign for my packages... is this stil the case for fed ex? I have to check the tracking andtry to make it home at lunch if this is the case... let me know thanks

awesome bryan, i think you might have to sign for the fed ex. me still being at school... yes im on campus this summer, thats what happens when ur an international student, and the mail people will sign for me and i just pick it up and sign from them... oh before i get, bryan, will you tell us how ur machine runs and if it has the COA and all those goodies that dma22 did not receive an update tho on my lappy... jumped from phase 5 to phase 8 over the weekend, meaning it could be shipped as early as tmrw which makes it almost two weeks early from a two week delay, meaning its only late by a week Phase 1: 5/23/07 Phase 2: 5/24/07 Phase 3: 5/25/07 (Confirmed over the phone) Phase 4: 5/29/07 Phase 3: 5/31/07 Phase 5: 6/07/07 Phase 6: ?6/08/07-6/11/07? SUPERMAN has ARRIVED! Everything looks good so far but there is no COA or Signed letter.. I recieved a letter stating that that those items are on Back order... more like the CEO had no time to sign it... SO much for posting our #'s. I will email AW regarding this...
ON a positive note, this laptop is GORGOUS and works great : ) I will test/inspect it some more after work.

Hopefully you have much better luck than me and hopefully mine makes it back to them soon. I hated leaving it at a postal place, but that's what AW wanted me to do...
It definitely is gorgeous though, I'll give them that one. I hated to touch it and will be laying some wax on it when/if it's back for good..

so yours said the COA and number badge and art were on backorder? mine only said the COA was and didn't even mention the other things.. the other box, for me, was just the DVD. that made no sense at all..

whew... now that i got that out of my system... in a surprise move, AW shipped my lappy today, instead of the predicted 18th which makes it a week early... meaning it arrives on wednesday because they were kind enough to upgrade it to two day shipping... not that it mattered, regular ground would have arrived in three days instead of two... and i get it guaranteed on thursday just in time for the weekend...
after much debate, i was going to originally put car paint protector film on the finish but heard it could damage the paint, so im just going to custom cut some adhesive film over the entire thing when it gets here... AFTER making sure everything works of course (somehow i feel like im going to be disappointed )

but hopefully this is my final update regarding phases besides adding a "received" to the end

It has ARRIVED!

thanks bryan... im currently on it right now... to quote borat... very nice!

cant really do a review right now since im on my lunchbreak... 2 hour campus staff lunch break today w00t... but i will work on a review as soon as i can get my hands on a camera... decided i could not wait patiently enough to take pictures of it arriving still in the box... so ill prolly just cheat and pack it up again

as for the actual lappy... it is beautiful... understatement of the year... good solid design, actual blue is darker than pictures... a lot darker

no cosmetic flaws on it... dont think there are any dead or stuck pixels either... sum it up real quick with a pros and cons list

cons:
keyboard design is going to take some getting used to... used to ctrl key on very bottom left and wider shift and backspace key... also used to just hitting enter all the way on the far right in the middle... hit the 6 key and + key instead ...
lid is kind of flimsy... when i say kind of i mean it wobbles when on a wobbly surface more so than other computers... put it on a sturdy surface and its golden...

pros:
beautiful paint job
beautiful screen
full keyboard
the rubber legs are raised pretty high to allow for maximum air flow

possible improvements:
a plastic "sd card" could have been put in the slot to protect from foreign objects entering the card reader
lappy is kind of top heavy in that you have to hold the bottom down to open the lid
better keyboard design/layout

otherwise, it pretty much exceeds expectations... i will write a review later, not that it would matter since they're sold out, but it'll be a nice lil project to do...

oh btw... for the benchmark people... ill give you the out of the box number since i see benchmarks as just qualitative numbers... doesnt really do a good job representing all capabilities ... out of box 3dmark06 is 3239 bm

with that i will now go play with my baby around s'more
