Help with pricing

I finally replaced my Acer 1711SCi with a much lighter notebook. I travel a lot and lugging around the 1711, was kinda hard.

I've been reading this forum for quite some time and am turning to you for advice. I want to sell the 1711,on eBay, but can't find any there. It still has warranty (I bought the extended from Acer), and is in perfect operating condition.

Any ideas?

William

No the Maxtor 250Gb SATA 16Mb drive that you posted a manual of will not work, based on the SATA connector pictured in the manual.

You must match the interface (ATA-100) and cable connector as there is no room for any kind of adapters. If you look a bit back in this thread you can see which drives do and do not work.

I personally have upgraded to a 500GB Seagate HD, and it is possible to upgrade to 750GB at the present time. No other mass produced notebook computer can do this. Do your homework and you should do just fine.

Hey all....

A couple of things:

First, the 750HD ATA 100 DOES work. It's awesome to have this much space and be so portable.

But... Im going to sell it at last....

I have two of them, so I am not giving up on this great machine.... but I am going MAC with my #1 machine and so the #2 acer will be my portable still and my main PC wont be a "PC"...

Also on the RAM, still cant find any 2GB modules that are non-ECC. I am wondering tho, with their be any BIOS issues with 64 bit VISTA? Will any of thr 478 CPUs support 64 bit apps? Or is this stuck in 2004 2005 with XP SP2 and single linear processing?

I mean with 750GB HD and 2GB Ram and a 3.4 Northwood P4, its still a smoken beotch of a machine...

But my Core 2 Dual with 3GB and the 750 SATA smokes it like a porche vs a VW bug...

Oh well....

Just keeping this thread fresh...

Go back a few posts to one that was dated in July, look for the ebay link posted by "Eric_Theis", and see if the guy "ic_man_32" has any left over video boards. He is currently selling motherboards w/o the graphic cards. It wouldn't hurt to contact him about his previous sales with graphic cards.

Unfortunately I overclocked my card and fried it, it cost quite dearly ($300) to replace the graphics card - New from Acer. Needless to say, I am no longer overclocking the new one. I wish I knew this way back in February, I would have bought the whole shooting match to save a few bucks.

I am not affiliated, nor have I dealt with this seller on e-bay "ic_man_32". If he doesn't have it, you could contact the buyers of the motherboards with the card to see if they only used the motherboard and didn't use the video card as it would seem to only work in 1710, 1711, 1712, and 1714 motherboards.

Thank You for your help.,

It took 3 different phone calls and over an hour and a half to order it. Acer's customer support is exceptionally poor, much worse than US manufacturer's (my last notebook was a Dell, and previous experience with Compaq, HP, IBM & Zenith). Or perhaps you could contact the owner's of this forum, but when I did almost a year ago, they told me to contact Acer. From the service manual that I have you need to ask for the following part:

nVIDIA GeForce FX Go5700 NV-36M 128MB AGP CARD

VGA Problem

Just blew the VGA Geforce card on this monster.
I am running by removing card and plugging a monitor in the back. (This works if you remember to ground the LCD line to the case)
I need the part number for the VGA Card if anyone has it?
Also as Acer is no help. If I can't get the card would have to install the VGA Bridge and use the onboard video.

Does anyone have the VGA Bridge card for sale or know of its part number.

i have one make a offer ,people at the store forgot to give it back to me , when i got the graphics card put in had to ask for it back ,and how did you blow up the graphics card did you overclock it?,im also trying to work out how could i use another pc on my laptop screen.
Thanks, I have sent you a private message with an offer.
I blew the card by it overheating. The intake screen over the fan got covered with dust and I didn't catch it. So the card overheated and went partially bad. It will still work somewhat, but gives me problems in booting.

It's really easy to get the Bios from your graphic card, there are two ways of doing this, if you have a Floppy-drive, a partition formated with FAT, or other kind of media that you can use to save files on from DOS, you can use the step 1, if you don't have this pre-requisites you need to use step 2, it's safe if you just do what i'm going to explain...

Step 1:

If you don't have a floppy-drive with Windows 98 boot files, you can burn the boot.iso on a CD-RW, and then reboot and start the pc from the CD-Rom, to do this you need to press F12, if you have it enable on the bios, if you don't have press F2 and go to boot options, and choose to use F12, save and reboot, and use the option start the computer with cd-Rom support, when the PC is started write this command on command line:

nvflash -- save A:\Bios.rom

note:If you have a partition formated with FAT you have to find is letter and then put it instead of A:\, if your partition is F:\, the command will look like this:

nvflash --save F:\Bios.rom

Step 2:

Notes: The Device in this pic is 7900 gt because it's the device from my Desktop.

The Bios version is v4.36.20.33.09 for all Nvidia GeForce Go5700 128 mb, Acer 17xx models.

Files that you need to get the Bios from your graphics card

If you need more help just PM it's easy and safe to do it, please help me...

You can do this in 5 minutes, please help me.

Thanks.,

Alex
