. They replaced the "DC-AC inverter" with a part number description "55.A08V7.006 INVERTER BOARD AMBIT T18I066.00". It seems that the dimming of the LCD could be related to this circuit rather than to the backlight, which will required replacement of the LCD. With the investment I have on this notebook, I am getting the extended warranty for an additional 2 years coverage. Contrarory to the 15 days limit from purchase date on their website to purchase the extended warranty, the tech support told me that I can purchase it anytime within the one year period.
