1505 Battery life help please

I've had my 1505 for over a year now using this battery (85 WHr 9-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery). I never did any special battery conditioning because I really didn't know what to do. I usually use my laptop plugged in about 90% of the time. But now, when I unplug, I only get about 1:30-1:45 of usage just surfing the web wi-fi with my screen on max brightness.

So that seems really short to me. Is there anything I can do to improve it?
1) Is there anything I can do with the battery to improve its performance like letting it drain and fully recharging a couple of times? Or do I just need a new battery.

2) I guess my other thought is that I may have some junk running in the background that's using up cpu power. But I'm not very sophisticated when it comes to clearing out all the non-essential software. Is there a good program out there that would tell me everything that's running in the background and what it does so I would know if I need it?

Not much you can do, that is battery degradation for you. After a year it is normal for there to be a decline in the life of your battery. And to prolong battery life, you should remove it when it is not charging and you are plugged into mains. Combine that with a full discharge cycle every couple weeks (if you are primarily using the mains) and it stays tip-top for longer. Other than that, you pretty much have to wear it and grin.

Thanks for the reply, Stu. I'll look into a new battery, or just upgrade when Santa Rosa comes out.

Don't use the wireless (disable it in the tray) if you want to last a reasonable amount of time on your battery. I last an hour with wireless and the 6cell version of the battery on my e1505.

It's not a power efficient laptop.

As for your second question, just google the various processes that you see listed in the task manager.
