M7700 Audio Problems

Thread Starter
Hey guys so I re-installed my OS and now I am having some major issues with the sound. First off I have downloaded the drivers from the sticky thread and installed them however once I do that the computer finds new hardware which is the "Modem Device on High Definition Audio Bus" soo I install the drivers for that from the sticky thread aswell (just the winxp modem drivers) but right after that the computer locks up and I get a blue screen and the computer shuts off and I can't boot it back up unless I do it in safe mode, then I just went and used the restore point.

so my problem is I can't get the audio working at all??!?!??! I have no sound on my machine right now, any help is appreciated guys.

thanks

Did you first load Microsoft fix KB888111, High Definition Audio Driver before loading the realtek audio drivers?

The Microsoft fix can be found at

http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/...howtopic=47079

and the realek drivers can be found at (Current Version is 1.67)

http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...&GetDown=false

Hope this fixes your problem

Loading the microsoft fix doesn't help, even after I do that then load the realtek drivers I still get no audio but the computer does say it found a new device which is the modem on the hi def audio bus. I then install the drivers from the sticky thread for the modem and boom thats it, I have to do system restore and if that doesn't work I have to re-install XP.

Hmm, it might be the modem driver you are loading causing the problems, try this one

Sometimes Windows update or some other such software will mis-recognize the modem or some other function of the onboard sound and load the wrong drivers. Sounds like that's what is happening. Load the original drivers from the install cd and it should work fine.

delete the folder called msqdfe or something like that and then install the newest drivers. you have an older motherboard that is causing the problem.

Just delete that folder and install the newest only after you have installed the older drivers from the alienware site.

We have a patch for High Definition Audio for XP SP3 here at our sister site. Give it a shot.
