Hey All,
Looking to speed up my old Inspiron 8200 and am thinking that a newer hard drive, while giving me more space, would also give me more speed since that hard drive just runs and runs for upwards of 5 mins from the time you start the computer to the time that you are really able to use windows. I know hard drives have come along way since that notebook was made with faster rpm and larger caches so I wanted to ask all the assembled geeks what they thought the fastest hard drive (without getting silly like the new solid state drives) was that would work with this notebook (so no sata). Size is not my biggest concern, I am using a 40GB now and at least a 60GB would be nice, bigger if it is not a hugh price increase, my biggest goal right now is simply speed of the drive.
I have run the ram up as high as it can go, and the startup programs are stripped down to the ones I really want so this is the next step. Any thoughts, ideas and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Lets see if we can crank a few more horse power out of this old gal.
