Ok... after much more troubleshooting i've come up with some interesting results.
I've been monitoring my graphics card temperature, and first of all, fangui and atitool come up with different temperatures. Right now, fangui says 54, ati says 62. Both are measuring C. Not sure what's up with that.
Second, warcraft rears graphics issues almost exactly at 60 degrees according to fangui. However, i see zero artifacts or issues in ati-tool, even past that temperature.
I have had a couple blue-screens while in warcraft, due to the memory parity error, but have been unable to recreate them anywhere else.
A determined search of the internet and warcraft forums shows dozens, if not hundreds, of other people having shown many similar issues with all types of graphics cards, and all in warcraft. Including the memory parity BSODs, screenshots that look identical, etc. Some people managed to fix it with drivers, but most of these people are running vista.
Even more strange, others have reported that their issues start at almost exactly the same temperature (60 C).
I'm baffled. I never OCed the card to a point where heat was an issue or where I got artifacts, as I stated before, and I have never had issues until this most recent patch. And a ton of other people started having issues with a variety of cards and drivers.
That sounds like a problem with warcraft.
However, the fact that the graphics start showing issues at a specific temperature, and that I get BSODs, seems to scream hardware error. But then, atitool is detecting nothing.
If anyone comes across anything that looks like a solution for this specific problem, in windows, or at the very least definitively identifies it as a hardware problem or software problem... or hell, even a good test to figure which it is out, please let me know. It's driving me crazy.
I'll keep looking for any information on it I can.
