New Computer

Thread Starter
I have a m5500 with a 2.26 and the Go 6600 {256} and 2 gigs RAM. It is not just my Laptop, it is my only computer. Am starting to run out of disk space {foolishly got a 80gb HD instead of something bigger}. This is a sweet, portable gaming rig that will run any game I play fairly well, though Oblivion and Neverwinter Nights 2 taxes it pretty hard.

A friend will be paying off a loan soon and I am thinking about getting a new computer. Our house really isn't set up for another computer desk {my wife won't part with the piano and we are adopting a child so the extra room in the house is spoken for}. That leaves getting a desktop replacement level laptop. Which leasve me with a couple questions.

Can the 9700/9750 actually keep two GPUs cool? And the upper end CPUs?

Would the performance increase be worth it?

Will the new line of Alienwares get the supposedly upcoming mobile 8800s?

Thank You

Let me add one more question.

And keeping it cool, how is the noise?

The 9700/9750 will be a huge leap in performance above the m5500.

The 9700 has great cooling, mine is on 12+ hours a day and I've had no heat issues. Since the 9750 is made by the same base platform manufacturer, it's a good bet the 9750 will also be adequately designed for cooling.

The 9750 will offer the 8800go when it's available.

As for noise, my m9700 is nearly silent unless playing a game, then the fans kick up, but it's very quiet even at high.
