I have a Satellite A105-S2236 with Vista & hate it. I have the XP disc and want to install it. How do I reformat to clear Vista out ?? By just trying to install, It tells me I have a newer version & can’t accept older one. Don’t want to take up your time, but I need exact steps. Much Thanks...

Before you format the HDD, Go to Toshiba.com, find your model under the Support in the menu and make sure you have all the XP drivers and utilities burnt to a disk first. Otherwise, you may have problems with some of the features on your machine. XP disk doesnt carry all the drivers and utilities you need. If the XP drivers are not there, you may have to go to an earlier model that has the same components and XP drivers

1. You have the drivers, unzip them and burn them to a cd rom.
2. Restart your computer and log into the BIOS and change the primary boot device to CD Drive(usually a model number) at the BOOT setup menu.
3. Save and log out. Computer will reboot.
4. Put in the windows XP in the CD drive.(make sure you have sp2 on your WinXP CD otherwise your SATA HDD will be ignored. You can make a Windows XP w/ SP2 cd rom yourself. Here is the instruction for that: http://www.helpwithwindows.com/Windo...p2-bootcd.html)
5. Restart the computer.
6. When the computer prompts you to press a button to boot from CD rom drive, do so.
7. Format C: directory by following the instructions. If you want to, you can delete the partition, then you'll just have to do some extra steps. The instructions are on the monitor.
8. Windows XP will begin to install when it finishes the format call.

That covers the general process. So if you have any specifics you can post back. I'll check this area everyday.
