You forgot the vga! Get a 8800GTS 320mb. Also I wouldn't go for the quad cores yet, not worth it IMO. Get an E4300, it reaches 3-3.2Ghz so easily it's not even funny, the best bang for the buck out there right now...

And that PSU sucks, get the OCZ gamerXtreme

Yeah, I would say change the psu as well. Others items are pretty good.

ha ha, yeah, it would probably help to have a video card or two in there

if you're going to go SLI then I'd bump that PSU up and if you're going SLI 8800GTX's then you'll have no option..

Corsair HX 620w PSU seems to be extremely good and recommended. I found a review a while back that put down the OCZ gamextreme PSU's showing major waves in wattage, so I'd personally shy away from that. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139002 I also recommend the 8800GTS, in my opinion it's the best performance for the price. If you go GTX, it's a bunch more expensive for not really ALL that much performance unless you have 1920x1080 or more in pixel count on your monitor.

holy shit, $169

yah i would prolly go with 8800gts,
im only using 1600x 1200 or w/e

The only reason I recommend paying extra for the power supply is, if you get a bad one...you're going to suffer because they break down all the time if it's crap. Also, if they break down, they could take the rest of your system with it.

Pdonket is right don't skimp on the PSU and the Corsair 620w is one of the best PSU's out there, don't buy it off of Newegg though (try clubit.com, zzf, buy.com etc) you should find it for around $130

Quad-core isn't a terrible idea though I would wait for the 45nm quad cores and stick with the 65nm Dual cores for now.

DDR2 6400 RAM is a lot cheaper than you listed, you can find decent sets for $85 (2x1gb)

I'd go for the Seagate 320gb 7200.10 HD, best one IMO and a lot of others.

Since you have a 22" LCD I would get the 640mb version of the 8800gts, the exta memory will help a lot for newer games if you want to turn up the quality settings.

Are you going to OC the cpu??? You can OC w/ the stock HSF but I would get something better, like the AC freezer pro

As far as mobo I would get a solid 965 chipset or look at the new G33 chip set boards coming out. (965 chipset board that is good = DFI)

All of the above is really good advice. I'm more of a Nforce chipset fan but the 965 or G33/35 chipset is also good.

Another HSF suggestion is Ninja by Scythe
post #14 of 20
yeah if you want SLI in the future Nforce is the only way to go.

If this is the case I would get the Evga 650i board, it should be around $100 which will fit your budget.

I just discovered clubit.com today and they have some outstanding prices.. anybody bought from them before? and had any issues? I can get 3 Gb's of Corsair Value Select SODIMMs for under $100 there. that's freaking crazy

clubit.com is a reputable seller, I've only bought from them once, but other forums seem to trust them.

i dont think i saw it mentioned, but do you need an OS? if so, you'll need to tack on like $100-130.
