BWC15.SYS Error BSOD

hi,

I am still gettin the BSOD error on my a51 with the linksys wireless adapter in it, apparantly this error is pretty common on wireless cards AW tech have seen it 'a lot' with no set pattern. If you turn on the full memory dump and get a chance to read the BSOD, ist BW15.SYS IRQ_NOT_EQUAL_TO_OR_LESS

sounds like some kind of device level enumeration bug, have latest drivers and bios's, have spoken to linksys they suggested turn off serial ports (a51 doesnt have any...) Sometimes it runs for hours, sometimes it crashes just after boot.... strangely i think its when it goes to idle status that triggers it? I am running on mains tho with 'everything on' set. AFAIK i dont have powerstrip running (Did a clean install and didnt install it or anyalienware tools is there anyway to check?)

Could just be magically fixed when xp service pack2 comes out?

great, dont tell me that, i just ordered a linksys, which model is it, the a, b, g? Does the card work well otherwise?

Mine is a pcmcia linksys adapter, and when I download and install the newest drivers from linksys it causes a system crash. Could the new wireless drivers have some weird bugs?

I never get crashes using the original shipped drivers.

Just my too sense.

OMG I need these soo bad.....My model is Wpc54G

yup...the Linksys 54g PCMCIA wireless drivers are fairly unstable i upgraded to the latest release only to find problems so I rolled back...the new drivers have that speedbooster crap....they do have a current beta version though for people who have a Texas Instrument CardBus Controller...which is us Alienware owners if I'm not mistaken...

I can't vouch for the integrity of these drivers..but it's worth a try considering they know of issues with Texas Instruments CardBus controllers and their 54G wireless PCMCIA cards...

mine is also the wpc54g... can someone post a link to the previous stable ones... and do we have the texas card bus controller?
Well I have not tried the beta ti cardbus controller drivers. I am not fond of things with the words "Beta" and "driver" in the description.

here are a couple of versions:

ftp://ftp.linksys.com/pub/network/wp...ility_v1.1.zip
ftp://ftp.linksys.com/pub/network/wp...ility_v1.2.zip
ftp://ftp.linksys.com/pub/network/wp...lity_v1.21.zip

I think I am using the 1.1 with much success.

Good luck and remember your mileage may vary.

They're not beta drivers for the TI cardbus controller...they are beta Linksys drivers for their wireless PCMCIA cards because they KNOW of existing conflicts/issues/problems with usage of their products in conjunction with notebooks that are equipped with a TI cardbus...which is us Alienware owners...

I would agree with you except for this:
ftp://ftp.linksys.com/beta/wpc54g_beta_driver.zip

See the beta in there?

just installed mine and it works so far, much better than my old dlink 650 plus, hell the dlink monitor program wouldnt even open up and the drivers that came with the card werent even digitally signed by windows, so i got a big error when i installed them. THose days are over though. Just before installing the new card, I coulnt even get on the internet with the dlink, once i installed this new wpc54g, jumped right on. Hopefully its relilable. The drivers that shipped w/ the card are v. 1.3.

I have a Linksys WRV54G Wireless-G VPN Broadband Router & an WPC54G Wireless-G Notebook Adapter and had the same BSOD errors.

The only thing that has worked the best for me so far was installing the WPC54GS Wireless-G Notebook Adapter with SpeedBooster software.

For the hell of it I tried the beta driver last night & had 2 errors in 2 hrs. Maybe this weekend I'll tryout the drivers sneezinglion suggested & see how they work.

BSOD and Wireless card

I have experienced the same BSOD Stop error with my new Area 51 m Extreme and a Microsoft MN-720 (802.11g) wireless adapter. It happened the first time within an hour or two after I took it out of the box and has continued.
It hasn't happened in Safe Mode with Networking so the Microsoft Tech Support Rep I was consulting said it was a conflict with the computer itself not a card or driver issue.

I'm curious what IRQ is being used by other wireless cards with the BSOD issue. Mine was using IRQ 17 which is apparently the default and cannot be changed.

They are sending me a new wireless card which should arrive today. If it uses the same IRQ, I expect the problem will continue but time will tell.
