Two new Area 51m's...

So my wife ordered each of us a A51 Extreme, (3.4Ghz with 15.4 in Silver for me, and 3.2Ghz with 16" in Blue for her).

Well we have had them for 3 days now, and my wife has managed to break the door on the PC Card slot (Wireless Network Card Adapter), the door on the right side (towards front of machine) has become unhinged from the bracket or whatever holds the door in place.

Anyone have an idea on this ? How can I fix, or do I have to send it back to Alienware for repair...

We've sent an e-mail to Alien Support and we expect to hear back from them tomorrow, hopefully with some ideas.

That sounds like you're gonna have to send it in. If they recommend you send it in but you think you can fix it yourself...SEND IT IN. Similar situation happened to me, they even authorized me to fix it myself, but they tried to cancel my warranty once I told them I was successful. But I got it resolved with a minor hassle...warranty intact.

I thought about asking what your wife is doing with the laptop to cause such damage, but the possibilites paint naughty pictues in my head. The thing does get warm and vibrate when you have it running full bore.

I think the plastic door just came unhinged or something when the wireless nic card was inserted sideways. But yes there are naughty things that come to mind in regards to that.

For instance I've read of game controllers that have secondary devices that their whole purpose is to vibrate....

/me being a n00b here isn't aware of hte rules bout posting a link to that website with a review.

i just had the SAME problem, that stupid door on the pcmcia slot fell off and is kinda stuck n the slot...i can get my wireless card in and out because it sticks out but anything that would be flush with the laptop wouldnt eb able to get out...

hopefully i dont ahve to send it in, that would blow.

Yeah she's a very cool woman, been married almost 7 years now.

Oh, wanna know how cool she is? We own a Computer Game Center together, she runs it during the day, not too many women would do that. One of our previous homes had 40 network connections, why you ask? LAN Parties BABY!!!
