Laptop is dead....extended warranty

Since PCtorque does not answer phone calls or any emails I was wondering if anybody knew how to use the extended warranties? Do we just call Warrantech or what? This 8790 I got is total crap, the battery is dead, hard drive crashed, sound cuts out and after screen flickering for several months has completely burnt out and died. You know it's bad when you see smoke too. My warranty expires in just over a week. Is PCtorque not answering me on purpose so that it can just run out or what? Any help you be much appreciated. Thanks.

You should have paper work that came a few weeks after your laptop arrived. Follow the instructions on that to take advantage of your warrantee.

Typically, the procedure is to call the ext warranty company, not the vendor, if you are out of the factory warranty period.

Thanks guys, but I did call Warrantech today and they said the same thing. Unfortunately PCtorque didn't send me anything. I know I won't be buying a Sager ever again, that's for sure.

Did Warrantech at least confirm they were the ones who should be handling your extended warranty? According to their policies page, http://www.pctorque.com/policies_old.php, PCTorque also uses Philips Magnavox for extended warranty service. Their warranty doesn't require you to register the way the Warrantech one does, so they might not have sent you paperwork as a result of that. If you're having a hard time getting in touch with PCTorque, you can call Philips direct, 24/7, 365 days a year, to see if they have any record of you. First call 888-638-7377 to get your warranty certificate number. They can usually give you that based off your serial number or your invoice number whichever you have handy. If that goes alright, call 800-526-1862 and give them that certificate number. They should be able to help you from that point.

If Philips says they have no record of you, then Warrantech must be your provider, and therefore PCTorque should have sent you paperwork so you could register your warranty, and if they didn't then they should really be assisting you with this matter now. I'd keep calling and writing until someone helps to rectify the situation.

Rather than swear off Sager forever, consider looking at other resellers for future purchases.
