Battery problem

Whenever I unplug the power cord from my 5760, it shuts off instead of switching to the battery. It is charged 100% and I usually run on AC power anyway. The laptop is about 7 months old so I don't think there's a problem with the battery. This only started happening yesterday, and I have no idea why. Any ideas?

I have an ALienware Area 51-5500 that is doing the exact same thing. Bought a new battery after talking to Alienwares techs, and it did not fix the problem.
please help!

Did you shut down before you pulled the plug or did you pull the plug while it was running? I'm not sure but that may have caused this to happen.
