while it's more luck finding it, and you don't necessarily get all the peripherals you want, it's usually much cheaper looking in the dell outlet, but in recent memory, there haven't been all that many good coupons. also, i'd look into changing the ram to a single 1gb stick, so it will be easier to upgrade later (i've heard that you ideally want 2gb to run vista premium). also, personally, i'd upgrade the screen up a notch, but that might push you over your budget limit.

Check Newegg.com Often you can find an Asus or an Acer, or sometimes a different brand for a better price

I spent almost exactly $1300 for this

Compal Hel-80 chassi
15.4"
Core 2 duo 1.86 ghz
120 gig HD
8x DL DVD burner
2 gigs of Corsair 667 ram
Geforce 7600 Go.
9 cell battery

and that was 6 months ago.

I would look for a better LCD, I have a glossy like the one on the laptop you are looking at, and I hate it almost every day.

I would hold off, SR and 8600's in 15 inchers for Dell have to be coming soon.

Dude! How did you come up with this price for the E1505?
http://xpbargains.com/#90494

here's one with: "Pentium Dual-Core T2080 1.73GHz, free 15.4 UltraSharp inch WXGA w/ TrueLife, 2GB DDR2, 160GB, DVD/CDRW, 256MB RADEON X1400 , 56k/NIC, 802.11b/g Wireless, Vista Home Basic, 1yr warranty for only $1223 - $424 off coupon code: T6K2Z6P7LBRR32 (exp 6/8 5:55am CT, limit 4000 uses) = $799 w/ free shipping."

for $800 plus tax you've got 2gigs of RAM, decent graphics card and more storage space (160)!

but then you add the upgrade for the t7200 (+250), the vista home premium (+30), the dvd burner (+40), the sound blaster software (+25), the batteries (+130), the wireless card (+60), the personalization shield (+30), and you've basically paid $90 for the extra gig of memory and 40gb of hdd space (my math could be slightly off, but it's about right) it will all really depend on what the priorities are in the system, but it seemed some of the things were what the OP wanted.

Ok, if you insist on C2D 2.0GHz, Vista Premium, Sound Blaster software (this I really do not understand) and other stuff like that, I agree that the price will grow rapidly.

I'm in the middle of choosing a laptop for mysefl and I took a different strategy.
Slower CPU (which I can easily upgrade in the future), Vista Basic but 2gigs of RAM, good graphics card and screen. I'd take that DELL for $800.
yee245 - which wireless card are you talking about? The Dell Next-Gen?

i dont care about 2.0ghz or know what vista premium is.

i just want the fastest possible computer for the cheapest price. i love to listen to music and download a lot of it. so the sound blaster is somewhat important if the sound quality will be better.
