Ok, so here is the deal. I am trying to help a friend with his laptop. It is a Satellite 5205-S705. Everything started because I couldn't get the Mini PCI Wi-fi Card working and I found out that it was because of an IRQ conflict with Windows XP SP2.
So I decided that it would just be easier to format the laptop and instal Windows XP SP1. That's when I found out that the DVD-Rom didn't work.
So I went ahead and took the HD out and plugged it into another laptop. I formatted it, installed a fresh copy of Windows SP1 and everything was working fine, until I put it back into the Toshiba.
It goes directly to the screen that shows the Safe Mode, Safe Mode with Networking and all this options. I tried every single one, it just freezes after I choose one of them.
I bought and external DVD-Rom drive so I could reinstall Windows but this time inside the Toshiba, and oh surprise! I can't make the computer boot from the USB. I tried all the options posted in the forums, the ESC, F-12, selected every single one of the icons and all of them lead to the same screen with the Safe Mode options.
Any sugestions? Any kind of help would be really appreciated, I am really desperated!!!

BTW....all this experience has left a REALLY bad impression
of Toshiba, I will NEVER buy a Toshiba and I will tell everybody that I know not to buy one
