How hot is too hot ???
I have a 9750-v
With:
Amd athlon 64x2 4800+
Nvidia geforce 7900gtx
2 gig ram
100 gig hard drive @7200rpm
Yah, I know it’s a big machine in a small box.
I can't imagine anyone wanting to stuff any more desktop components into such a small space like massive dual hard drives in raid 0 and bleeding edge dual graphics cards, and jamming on next gen games without getting a China syndrome puddle in their lap.
LOL, sorry guys it must be way too cool at the local LAN party.
Now that it’s almost summer, I have put in a window air conditioner and try to keep the room temp between 75o and 80o at most. Since I bought the 9750 last June it has been sitting upon 4 stainless steel condiment cups about 1 and ½ inches off the table.
Some time ago I installed a free temp monitoring program and push the function and f2 buttons whenever
I notice the box getting up to 100o Fahrenheit and looks like it’s going to get higher. This usually does the trick and lowers the temp of the box unless I am defragging C: drive or burning a disk etc. I have seen the temp read as much as 110o F once or twice so I usually shut down at 105o or above unless I am in the middle of ripping or burning.
So my question is;
At what internal temperature does the box have to reach,
in order to put the various components at risk of failure.
I need to know as soon as possible because I have a RMA for a failed modem
and I need to ship this week before my warranty runs out.
