Behold the XPS m1330 - Page 2

So I guess the magic date that's rumoured for the m1330 launch as well as the Inspiron 1520 and 1720 and the Vostro line of notebooks from Dell is June 26. Anyone heard/seen otherwise?

They seriously need to start looking at better graphics for these. Just becuase some of us like to game..doesn't mean we want to carry a 17" notebook around.

I'd like to know 2 things:

1.) Is that 128MB video card worth anything (8400 GS supposedly)?

2.) Is that surface a total scratch magnet like the Sony 13.3?

Mmmm....want one.

Ok, it looks like the Vostro isn't what anyone is thinking it was....

They are replacing Dimensions as the cheap systems for the Small Business Division. So far the only two Vostro service manuals I have are for DESKTOPS The Vostro 200 and 200s. A mini-tower and a small form factor (like the XPS200). Nothing regarding a Notebook yet. And there's still no information on any new XPS systems. Remember, if anyone asks you where you got your information tell them "what information? I have no idea what you're talking about."

I wonder if the LED display is the same as the one on Sony's Vaio SZ models. I saw a SZ recently at a Sonystyle store and my eyes definitely want the LED display.

So I guess the m1330 is official.

A 12-13" computer doesn't have the cooling necessary for a better graphics card.

Especially so in the case of the m1330 considering the very thin form factor of the case. I'd imagine it'd be pretty hard to get a 8600 in there with the amount of heat it'd generate with such small fans to cool it down, no to mention increased power requirements. I'm not trying to say it can't be done for a 13'' laptop, just not too practical in terms of the trade-offs that you'd have to make (ie. battery life, weight, noise, etc.)

look at the new MBP, they have an 8600, and they are much thinner than anything dell has to offer.

im disappointed for now, i like the look of the 1210, and the size. i just wish it was a little thinner

They could have at least put the 8400m gt in there instead of the 8400m gs (128 bit vs 64 bit memory bus width)

the card they have in there is in there for a reason... if there's better cards that COULD have gone in odds are good the head generated would be too much...

Hate to point this out to you, but those are still rendered pics. Even if they are from Dell. I want to see real pictures of the machine, not airbrushed perfection.
