Lenovo FireGL v5250

Okay, I'm probably getting annoying posting new threads, but this is my LAST one before I take the plunge and order my new laptop.

My big question is how do I soft-mod a FireGL card? From what I understand, I can get the card to run almost exactly the same as a x1700, even with games etc. after modding it. Is there a way to go about this that anyone can direct me to?

You might get a tad better performance but not really worth the mod. The Mobilty ATI drivers have the Drivers for it. Just install the latest and enjoy your games. There isn't as big as a difference between drivers for Radeon and FireGL like there use to.

Be warned the T61P is right around the corner! I am holding out for this.

Supa: What is "right around the corner"? I'm not that up-to-date on laptop news - are you expecting this in the next month or two? Also...any idea on what pricing/specs might be like on these?

Supposidly June 5th was the target but the date has come and gone. You can either keep waiting or get a T60P now if you need it. Keep in mind it might be a month to debut then another 1-2 months after before you get your laptop shipped to you. That's the way Lenovo is since the take over of IBM.

Hmm...interesting. What are the specs gonna be on the T61p? Specifically, I doubt the processors will be much different, but what about the GPUs? Also, any inklings on possible pricing? And do you think that the T60p will get cheaper when the T61p is released?

I really appreciate all the advice.

This is where I got my info from:

I am hoping that after this Tuesday we will get more news, but the general consensus is that it will be "released" after Fathers day (on the next Tuesday).

Hope that helps!... I also it is worth waiting for... none of the other current notebooks really interest me other than Alienwares latest 5550m, but the weight/bat life is somewhat an issue for me.

Good luck!
