Q6600 in NP9260

Thread Starter
Does anyone know if it is possible to run an undervolted quad core Q6600. I like the looks of this notebook and I already have a Q6600 CPU in my possessions. What kind of voltage options does this notebook have. I will be getting one if it lets me underclock/undervolt my quad core.

The NP9261 can run a Q6600 and also a Q6700. Just plug it in, Iwould say.
Why do you want to change voltage?

In order to keep it cooler? Isn't the 9261 one of the only laptops that can run a quad core? You should contact Sager and see what they say.

Actually, PC MicroWorks has the Q6600 and Q6700 Quad cores available in their configuration.

That's not needed, the 9261 is one of the coolest laptops and designed to run quad processors like Q6600 and Q6700.

You will only run into problems if you plug in a QX6800 or so...

why not both models being able to support this? they both have desktop chipsets.

If your oneliner is meant to be a question like this:

Why don't both NP9260 and NP9261 support the Q6600?

Then my answer would be:

Both machines support a range of desktop processors. The NP9260 had problems running the Q6600. Clevo then introduced the NP9261 with a revised Motherboard/Bios. So the NP9261 runs Quads and the NP9260 does not.
