Sending out the macbook for service

i finally had my last straw of these problems. so i was at my girlfriends house, showing off how easy macs are to use.. her mom mention that she had a picture of martina mcbride on her phone, and it was too bad that its not real easy to print it off.. well naturally i whip out my macbook and go to use BT to transfer the file.. only to be halted by the dreaded BT glitch (http://www.appledefects.com/wiki/ind...nized_any_more) bottom of the page ) other than every symptom listed , right down to the standby issues and "sniffing sound" (sounds more like tearing paper to me) i decided to send it off to be serviced. not only have i had this blue tooth malfunction, but also some pretty hefty application instability (ranging from safari to photobooth to iMovie HD.. almost everything is awfully slow and unstable) the worst instance of application bugs was in photobooth.. i go to open photobooth to take a pic and the iSight bugs out, makes a very loud beep(same thing imovie does when it freaks out) and shows a solid green screen where the isight capture should be. oh yea and i have had the battery bug too... http://www.appledefects.com/wiki/ind...nized_any_more ..... boy do the techs have their work cut out for them.

because these issues are listed as unresolved, i will post any info i get about fixing them.

Wow man sounds like you got a bad egg. Every manufacturer has those types of things... I really hope you get your MacBook better than new since apparently it wasn't very good new

its weird, the first 2 or 3 months it was the fastest laptop i had ever used.. then it all went down hill.. maybe it was the 10.4.9 update, but i belive the issues happened before that... i still <3 apple, cause yea every company turns out a bad apple once in a while

so this is taking longer than i thought.. about 3 hours after they got my computer in the mail, the put my repair on hold while they ordered a part... that was a week ago.. is the repair center on mars or something? also what do you think they could be ordering that would take that long?

i took mine in last tuesday. the genuis told me he had to order the new LCD so they could replace it instore. i was told it would be ready by friday. i got a call today (sat), saying weve looked at your mac, but we will have to order the LCD to replace the odd one.

what the hell. i need my computer back!

so i got my computer back, after convincing the phone support guy that this was a hardware issue, not a software issue (as i have formated and with just the OS, the problem still there) i find out that all they did was wipe the OS....... so obviously the issue popped right back up after a few days, so i call again, and the phone support guy tells me that they did order a part, but never put one in my computer.. ??? strange.. so they send me another box and i send it in.. this time they actually got to it on the same day they received it. when i get my computer back the second time.. as soon as i turn the computer on i notice a straight line of dead pixels!!!! (about 1/2 inch long by maybe 2 pixels wide) what is with these repair center guys??? when my friend sent his macbook to the same repair center he got it back with the magnet in the LCD bezel in upside down, thus misaligning the whole bezel (it had an obvious gaping hole between the back of the lcd and the bezel). the product specialist i spoke with assured me that he will be contacting the repair center about this and refered me to a local authorized repair center to fix my screen. I think apple needs to stop outsourcing their repairs and keep it in house (I hate you flextronics - Memphis TN)

Damn dude, that sounds rough. I know my buddy had to take his laptop to the genius bar a few times, then finally, about 6 months after his applecare expired, the logic board seemed to have died (at least that is what they told him) so he got a new MacBook, no problems since then.

yea the closest apple store is like 200 miles away or something stupid so they referred me to an authorized repair center about 30 miles away.. i have to take it to them to try to get it fixed.. and honestly i dont trust the moron rednecks here to do anything related to electronics, hell i wouldn't let my local computer shop touch my alarm clock, not to mention a brand new computer... i have a feeling something else will just go wrong...

holy crap, if i were running customer service, i'd just swap your hard disk into a new computer and ship the new machine to you! With like 3% market share, Apple is the last company that can afford to go out of its way to piss of its customers...

well i got back from the local apple service provider that they sent me to, they said they don't repair any portables because apple doesn't compensate them enough for the labor involved. i told them i would put the monitor in myself if it was an issue of labor costs, but they didn't have any heh. so i guess i have to send it back to flextronics in TN for the 3rd time, to the same tech... grrrrr

I would call Apple and tell them that this service provider isn't providing full service.

haha yea i should. seem pretty greedy to me, sure taking apart a laptop is more difficult than a desktop.. but its not like either is all that hard. maybe i should open a repair center , get apple authorized and show them how its done, i mean how hard can it be if these flextronics morons need two tries to change a bluetooth cable and end up breaking my LCD in the process....

well another update on this experience... i got my mac back for the 3rd time and this time there is a little spot in the LCD (right - middle) where it it looks like there is a pixel missing or something, its a light colored dot, i tried ignoring it because i didnt want to send my macbook back to flextronics for a 4th time.... but i cant ignore it anymore... i am fed up with flextronics and their incompetent employee.... i move in college in 2 days and honestly dont want to be without my mac for my first week (especially sense i have to send my dell off for a serious vertical line issue... iv been waiting for the box in the mail for half a week... so we will see how long ill be without the XPS) .. but yea back on topic, is there anyone who has had apple send their portable to an alternative repair center? because i really dont want want flextronics touching my computer again.

By now I'd be demanding a complete replacement. Unfortunately, I think they'll tell you to shove it for one dead pixel. Though if it is in the middle of the screen...

i think im just going to ignore it, i honestly dont want to send it back to flextronics, and it seems i have no other options. one pixel, i guess i can (hopefully) look past.. i hope i dont get the desire to sell it, as im sure a defective display will hurt resale value... wonder if apple will cover that?
